Barcode Scanning Software from Quantum

Quantum's barcode scanning software controls many PDT (personal data terminal) Telnet sessions run on scanning terminals over spread-spectrum local wireless LANs. The subjective impression using the application is that of a block-mode terminal like a 5250, with input fields and static areas, while all data actually resides in the Server.

The only software on the mobile terminal the user interfaces with is the Telnet session, which is available on most key-based PDAs. Because of this, terminal hardware and software is kept simple, and costs can be kept low.

Many different key-based PDT devices can be used. Quantum's software is device-independent.  Holstered, wearable, and fixed door mounted units from Symbol, Telxon, Intermec or others can be deployed based upon customer preference.

Key Barcode Software Features

Uses only two main screens and 6 exception screens, which makes it very simple for dockworkers or warehousemen  to learn and use (see Scanning Details).

Primary function of PDT is to scan an item such as a box, piece, pallet, or truck, onto a location, e.g., a truck, pallet, or the warehouse floor.

Quantum's scanning application accepts many different barcode formats.

The application “knows” the details of every piece and its relationship to shipments and orders (down to SKU descriptions if needed).

The software contains path information to prevent shipments from being misrouted.
