Package and Shipment Tracking Overview

Quantum provides supply train logistics control applications designed for mission critical tracking of time-sensitive B2C and B2B shipments. The applications can be used by any logistics firm who wants a low-cost way to obtain full piece or box level tracking of each box comprising a shipment and each shipment that comprises an order. The applications keeps track of and can locate any box or shipment, find the handling or storage history, tell a e-tailer where a box needs to go, and trigger messages over a WAN, through the Internet, or by e-mail when specific events occur. They help prevent anomalies such as misloads and misroutes by alerting handlers with an auditable override required to move pieces to unplanned locations.

Barcode Scanning

The key to providing these applications is efficient and low-cost barcode scanning. Quantum's scanning capabilities include use of local radio-frequency communications such as spread spectrum. Any number of portable scanning terminals can be deploy since the application is scaleable. These simple light-client key-based portable devices are inexpensive and durable. Unlike competition, Quantum's applications are not restricted to specific hardware. Customer can select the best hardware for their needs.

The scanning application is used to record the movement of boxes and shipments through the entire distribution process from time of packaging through the DC, Hub, or terminal, to the ultimate customer. It is "industrial strength" with fault-tolerant redundancies to handle large volumes of data.
